Rissmaan – Thursday, November 25, 2021; The request for a retrial of the case of 9 Christian converts named Behnam Akhlaghi, Babak Hosseinzadeh, Abdolreza Ali Haghnejad, Shahrooz Islamdoost, Mehdi Khatibi, Khalil Dehghanpour, Hossein Kadivar, Kamal Nomanian, and Mohammad Vafadar has been accepted in the Supreme Court and their case is pending. It was sent to the same branch again. An unprecedented ruling by the Supreme Court states that propagating Christianity and forming a house church is not a crime or collusion to disrupt security. These individuals are all members of a house church called the “Church of Iran” in the city of Rasht, which in October 2019 was accused of “acting against the security of the country by forming a house church and propagating evangelical Christianity and Zionism” and each was sentenced to five years in prison.
