Alieh Motalebzadeh was banned from making phone calls in prison

Rissmaan – Monday, April 30, 2021; Alieh Motalebzadeh, a photographer and women’s rights activist detained in Evin Prison, who is serving a two-year sentence, was denied the right to make telephone calls following a petition filed against being held in solitary confinement in the prison prosecutor’s office.

Earlier, 17 political and ideological prisoners of Evin and Rajai Shahr prisons had complained about the detention of defendants in solitary confinement in the wards of these prisons.

In this petition, the prisoners, citing the unanimous ruling of the Administrative Court of Justice in 1982 and the Code of Criminal Procedure, described the detention of prisoners in solitary confinement as a “clear case of torture” and illegal, and called for the issue to be addressed.

According to the HRANA news agency, the news organ of the Iranian Association of Human Rights Activists, Alieh Motalebzadeh, a photographer and women’s rights activist imprisoned in Evin Prison, has been denied the right to contact.
